Cyclical Nature - In Progress

Within this work I am exploring the cyclical nature between the industrial and natural world. Each week I make my way to the parkway for a hike in order to free myself from the busy world of academia, masses of people and concrete. I find it vitally important to keep in touch with the natural world as well acknowledging that as humans we are a part of that world. All industrial settings have originally come from nature and one day will be consumed by it once more, through the destruction of industries or by other means. I will combine the Brooklyn Bridge with one that resides on the Blue Ridge parkway. I will also combine cityscapes of NYC that blend into trees and roots from the parkway. I have photos of the changing leaves and flowers I will incorporate to help aid in displaying change.

                For me this work will be showing the cyclical nature of my world. As mentioned prior, it will show the shift between my everyday world of busy buildings, people, and concrete to the serine natural settings. The buildings will metaphorically represent my busy, fabricated routine I have at college. Where the natural settings display the concept that it is in our nature to travel to our roots (quite literally) but also the fact that I always need that break to the outside world. I will also incorporate my dogs in the foreground to provide the viewer a deeper connection to myself.
